The Carnival Blog....what is it?
It's a group of jewelers get that together via the web, once a month, to post on a topic that has to do with jewelry. It's a fun way to hear different opinions from wonderful artists. Topic: What is the most difficult piece you've ever made, from a technical perspective? Describe why it was so challenging?
This will probably be my shortest blog post. I'm a KISSaphobe. I don't like to make jewelry unless the technical aspects push me and it's challenging. Maybe it's that competitive side in me. It's me against the technique and I'm going to kick it's butt. I'm not proud. I'm working on embracing simplicity. Maybe I'll just make something for fun one of these days. I'll keep you posted. So they are all equally difficult.
Oh wait...it just came to me. I took a class with Karen Lewis, aka "Klew" in caning polymer clay maybe 16 or 17 years ago. I'm quite certain that artists who like to do caning, loved the tortuous geometry in school. Me...not so much for either subject. I just couldn't wrap my head around making the shapes or as I like to refer to it, thinking from the inside out. I've never caned since and didn't think I was going to make it through the 3 days without slitting my wrists! Of course, I persevered. I do admire the work...and I do mean work *whew*.
